Description At these ER–PM junctions, STIM1 can trap and gate Orai1 Ca2+ channels, eliciting an influx of Ca2+ from the extracellular milieu into the cytoplasm.; UNC93B1 deficiency might impair the traffic or activity of an adapter protein to reduce STIM1–Orai1 interactions but not STIM1 recruitment.
Description of experimental evidence The protein was validated by immunoprecipitation, western blot analysis, PCR ,qPCR, Duolink and TIRF microscopy in mouse dendritic cells, which maintains the ER calcium sensor STIM1 in a dimeric state primed for translocation to the ER cortex.
